Why art thou cast down, O my soul?
and why art thou disquieted in me?
hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him
for the help of his countenance.
Psalm 42:5

One last study session in the sunshine for these Camping Ministry students. Pray for all ABC students to finish the year strong as they take final exams this week.
Here's a glimpse of just a few thankful servants, happy to have some beautiful weather for Work Day!
Student Body President Austin Gonzales, a graduating senior, hands off the gavel to president-elect Peter Tucker. Reflecting on the past year, Austin writes:
"The accomplishments of the 2015-2016 Student Council are due completely to the hard work of the team as a whole and God’s faithfulness. We laughed all the time, stressed a lot, made a few mistakes, but enjoyed the success that God provided. I cannot express how grateful I am to have been a part of this Student Council. The students elected to this team worked diligently and sacrificed their time to provide what we prayed would be encouraging to the students. I relied so heavily on the team around me and they didn’t let me down. Truly, 'I am surrounded by those who make me look better than I actually am.'"
Finals are finished and papers are turned in. Now it's time to focus on being "Servants to the Church" for two days during Spring Bible Conference. Dr. Les Ollila and Dr. Gary Anderson will be speaking: abc.edu/bible-conference
Time to try on those mortarboards and do a processional walk-through! The public is warmly invited to the Senior Class Program (Friday, 2:30 PM) and Commencement (Saturday, 10:00 AM).
"These awesome students served and served and served our intimate church family this year. There are ministries that would not have happened without them." - Pastor Chris Smith
Kalee, Luke, Kayla, Leah, and Ben: thanks for being "Servants to the Church."
These Senior class officers and their sponsor have been working toward this day for four years. May God receive the glory during today's Commencement at 10:00 AM.
48 diplomas and certificates handed out today; 48 servants trained for ministry. Watch for pictures of the Class of 2016 next week.
Congratulations to the Class of 2016! Forty earned a B.A., one earned an A.A., and seven earned a Bible Certificate. Commencement took place on May 7, 2016, with Dr. Les Ollila as speaker.
May these graduates use their academic achievements AND athletic skills for Christ.

Dr. Ollila shared much wisdom and wit with the Class of 2016.
"You will live out what you love, but you won’t always live out what you know."
"You are rich if you have what money cannot buy and death cannot take away."
Hats off to these dedicated staff and faculty who were recognized last week for their years of service. Karen Rowe (20 years), Dan Hanshew (5), Courtney Strang (5), Jon Rinker (15), Cindy Peterson (5), Dan Best (5), Ruth Knicely (30), Dan Carfrey (25). Not pictured: Mike Allen (5), Roger Cox (25).
But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me;
my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
I cried unto the Lord with my voice,
and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.
Psalm 3:3-4
Today Jubilate has not one, not two, but THREE concerts. Pray for the handbell team's strength as they continue touring. Praise the Lord for a woman trusting Christ as Savior.
Those red and white tassels represent dual majors: Ben's are Bible/Theology and Camping, Zechariah's are Bible/Theology and Music, and Anna's are Bible/Theology and Missions. God bless the Class of 2016!
Just one month away: Ladies Conference 2016, featuring these two great speakers. The ABC Ladies Auxiliary offers discounts for pastor's and missionary wives. Find out more about "Anchor for the Soul," June 17-18 at the link below.
Whether on the bus or at Niagara Falls, Jubilate is squeezing in some fun during their 16-day, 23-concert tour. You can still catch them in Salem and Massillon, OH and Parkersburg and Charleston, WV.
Among 2016 graduates, the Missions Ministry Major led the way, followed closely by Youth and Family, Pastoral, and Elementary Education.
All B.A. students' first major is Bible/Theology—because Scripture is the most practical tool for all of life and ministry.
Final concert: tonight at 6:30, Maranatha Baptist Church (Charleston, WV).
Jubilate's 2016 tour concluded at team member Sydney Smith's home church last evening. The handbell team thanks everyone for their prayer support during these two weeks on the road. God provided safety, stamina, personal growth, and—best of all—a woman who was born again at a concert.
Announcing the newest missionaries with Appalachian Bible Fellowship! Jonathan Lorch, a 2013 graduate of the Bible/Theology and Camping Ministry B.A., and his wife Alaina are serving churches and sharing the gospel through our Alpine Ministries. They were commissioned by Hunters Creek Community Church (Lapeer, MI) earlier this month and would be glad for your prayer and/or financial support. Leave a comment below to welcome them or request a prayer card.
It is the final day to get a discount when you register for the ABC Ladies Auxiliary's Ladies Conference, June 17-18.
In South Africa since last week, one 2016 graduate is working alongside a missionary family in a school for the disabled. You can get involved by praying that she continues to adjust quickly and that her ministry is fruitful. Also pray for her travels during her return home to West Virginia after July 1. #ABCsummermissions
Alumni! Homecoming is scheduled October 6-7, 2016, with speaker Dr. Gary Anderson, President Emeritus of Baptist Mid-Missions. Mark it on your calendar and watch for more details.
Mr. Chris Smith is wrapping up his time serving ABC as Business Manager this week. His accounting skills, dependability, and sense of humor will be missed. Leave a comment to wish him God's best as he focuses on pastoring.
